New Delhi : The central government has drafted rules to regulate social media, streaming and OTT (Over Top) forums and news sites.
According to some media reports, the rules address the need for a chief compliance officer to respond to any complaint from law enforcement on a 24 × 7 basis.
It is also understood that there will be a dedicated portal for grievance redressal and monitoring system.
The draft regulations do not specify any punishment, however, it does say that the site has a 36-hour deadline to remove restricted content.
